History of Rush Photo
(Nov. 2012) Russell Schmidt, girlfriend Mary Ann Marshall and their son A.J. Marshall have been around photography and race cars for most of their lives. Schmidt started working at Eastside Speedway in the early 1990's as track announcer before job responsibilities increased to sales ad rep, points keeper, public relations rep and track photographer.
After working at two other nearby racetracks for several years in similar roles, Schmidt and his son return to Eastside as the 2013 track photographers for both the drags and oval track programs.
Father, mother, and son have traveled to many other racetracks over the past decade, shooting and reporting to area newspapers and websites.
Despite A.J.'s young age (21), his photography experience with many different kinds of cameras started at the age of 11. Whether it's on-track side-by-side action or memories created in victory lane, Rush Photo can capture it all.
They will be printing and creating photos for sale right at the racetrack, where you'll meet Mary Ann working the photo booths.
(May 2024) Today at 32 years-old A.J. continues the tradition of taking quality photos. Rush Photo has been the official track photographer of Shenandoah Speedway from 2014 - 2016 and 2021 - present.
While there has not been an on-site location in over a decade, Rush Photo can still get any photo printed or digitally sent via e-mail.
